Setting up a custom subdomain or domain

Give a funnel its own subdomain or connect a domain you own with one CNAME record.

4 min read

A funnel opens at its standard link on reprocket.app. You can give it an address of its own, so the link and the QR code carry your name. Custom domains and subdomains are included on every plan.

There are two kinds of address:

  • A subdomain, such as yourbusiness.reprocket.app. Free, and it works as soon as you add it.
  • Your own domain, such as reviews.yourbusiness.com. You add one DNS record where your domain is managed.

The standard link keeps working whatever you add, so QR cards you have already printed are never broken.

Where to find it

Each address belongs to one funnel. You can manage it in either place:

  • Settings → Domains, then choose the funnel at the top.
  • The funnel's Set up → Address.

Add a subdomain

  1. Under Add a subdomain, type a short name, such as joescoffee. Use 3 to 63 letters, numbers and hyphens, with no dots, and no hyphen at the start or end.
  2. The screen shows the full address, for example "Your funnel will open at joescoffee.reprocket.app".
  3. Press Add subdomain. It is live at once.

Connect your own domain

Use a subdomain of a domain you own, such as reviews.yourbusiness.com. A root domain such as yourbusiness.com cannot be connected, because it cannot carry the CNAME record.

  1. Under Connect your own domain, type the address and press Add domain.
  2. The address appears in the list as Pending, with the DNS record to add.
  3. Sign in where your domain's DNS is managed (your domain registrar or DNS host) and add that CNAME record exactly as shown.
  4. Come back and press Check again, or just wait. RepRocket keeps checking for a week and switches the address on as soon as the record is found.

A new DNS record can take from a few minutes to a day to be seen. The security certificate for the address is issued automatically once the record is found. There is nothing else to set up.

Choose the public address

When an address is Live, press Use as public address to make it the one on your Share tab, your links and your QR codes. A funnel can have several addresses; the list shows how many it can have.

What each status means

StatusMeaning
LiveThe address works. Customers who open it reach the funnel.
PendingThe DNS record has not been found yet. Add it, then check again.
VerifyingThe record is being looked up now. This takes a few seconds.
FailedSomething is wrong. The screen says what. Check again, or remove the address and add it once more.
OffThe address is switched off and opens nothing.
Not finishedSetting up was never finished. Check again to see what it still needs.

Removing an address

Press Remove on the address and confirm. Anyone opening it will no longer reach the funnel. If it was the public address, the funnel goes back to its standard link.

If it does not work

  • Still Pending after a day: check the record at your DNS host. The name and the target must match what the screen shows, letter for letter. Some DNS hosts add your domain to the end of the name for you; if so, enter only the first part, such as reviews.
  • A CNAME already exists for that name: remove or change the old record first. A name can have only one CNAME.
  • The subdomain name is taken: choose another. Each subdomain belongs to one funnel.

White label

To put your own brand and domain on the whole dashboard, not only on a funnel, see White label in Settings. It is for the Admin owner and Admins.
